We’ve heard the prognostication that the conceptual album is dying. In fact most would say the album itself is dying, if not already dead. We hope you’re not ready for that yet. We wrote this album to be a kaleidoscopic view of ‘escape’: the songs unpack this theme in a variety of ways--some more oblique than others--to show the positive and negative, the good and bad. After writing it for the past 18 months, we recorded it amidst the beautiful Oregon spring and summer. Cheers.

Violence rises in the East, oil climbs in the West
A Freedom fighter must defend her land
Now the gas pump is charging me excess.
This world is getting small,
You can feel the constriction
With every good that’s sold and bought
It bears the markings of human friction

I bet we are meant to change
To get out underneath of the oppressive haze
Our hearts were sent with brighter dreams.
Slip the rope from my hands and feet
I am not so scared and I’m not so free
There’s no turning back for the older ways:

I can hear my TV, the cable news is frantic

More than a populous filled with panic.
