Viral 05:46
It was a moment of bliss when we both arrived Out of the past we both came in the light The look on her face was the glowing of grace, the coming of my age She was the warmest of lights in the coldest night Reached with her hand took me by surprise and opened The lock I had held in the dark for no one else to take And then we went viral, around the world so fast You took me viral and our moment made to last And everyone saw it, they heard it The whole wide world was captivated viral, viral with you It was a moment of affection meant to open up Does the world still hunger for a picture of love? And if all see, what will they choose to be? Well that will be our test With a touch she hit me like a power line With a kiss my ignorance revealed its disguise and this Lone heart that had wandered apart would finally find its rest Have you seen enough? Have you seen enough? That you might live it, lay down in it, and let yourself be loved? Have you seen? Have you seen enough? That you might emulate, come replicate, and Wrap yourself in love Viral. Around the world so fast. For we are viral, and our love is built to last. Let everyone see it, believe it This whole wide world is captivated Viral, viral with you. Let everyone see it, believe it This whole wide world is captivated Viral, viral with you.

Escape 03:44
Violence rises in the East, oil climbs in the West A Freedom fighter must defend her land Now the gas pump is charging me excess. This world is getting small, You can feel the constriction With every good that’s sold and bought It bears the markings of human friction I bet we are meant to change To get out underneath of the oppressive haze Our hearts were sent with brighter dreams. Slip the rope from my hands and feet I am not so scared and I’m not so free There’s no turning back for the older ways: We will make our escape! I can hear my TV, the cable news is frantic And nothing lines up their pockets More than a populous filled with panic. So we are kept on the edge, foreign war and a terror threat We all die but can you tell me newsman, tell me: Does everyone live? Our world, it’s changing We’re the precious, we’re the witness Of what will yet be So don’t be scared babe, keep on moving! I know we’ll be better yes When we can separate from the meaningless Well, our hearts were made with brighter dreams. Slip the rope from our hands and feet I am not for sale, and I’m not so free There’s no turning back to the older ways: We will make our escape!

Sinking Ship 03:00
I’ve seen enough of the aimless, I see them everyday As empty-eyed they fall in line and do as they are told Never question as they give themselves away Such a shame: pretty people, perfect dreams And all get wasted on lesser things I can’t believe so many would follow behind In the wake of a sinking ship So believe me when I tell you That I will not be told how to think Or follow the trend It sinks them all, and I will not be tangled in. I’ve heard enough of the advert Projecting how our lives should be They offer me so willingly the rags that they have worn And promise me a greatness that I never have received Such a shame, this seductive game I only thought we would be playing Not being played

Madmen 03:55
I can tell what you've been thinking: "That's the way that life goes" It always happens so fast, You have no time to relax It’s been all that you've known And you've been working so hard Trying to get ahead, babe But now the racetrack is endless and only the reckless would run at that pace Everybody's running, following the schedule, Living like they're mad men Oh, I have been there before, I remember that pace and I don't want it again For I can read the headlines I know all the hard times, I'd rather take a slow night Where you and me can get out of here, Out from under the fear, and follow our lives So put away the camera, The world don't need to see this And you are always far too hell bent Trying to document your life for their eyes Babe, where has it gotten you? Oh its nothing you can hold onto And all the memories on your page, Tell me when did they satisfy the call of our lives It may seem that those who run Much faster than the rest of us Are the head of the class They can only react Searching desperately for what they lack They can't find all the love we have I know everybody's running, Following the schedule, Living like they're mad, mad men Such a tragic device, it is how they retreat, It is where they have lived I respectfully decline that frantic way of life, Girl, we should take a slow night There's no need for the haste, No need for that reckless waste of life Come away from the sorrow, Away from the noise, To a slow, slow night.

I know I promised my best to you Those words unfolded, and my soul withdrew And so I drifted, my heart belonged But was oh so tempted for oh so long Say that it’s alright. Was it deliberate or accident? My mind has hidden my soul’s intent It was oh so worthless, so unthinking I know my weakness, I’ve been remembering Say that it’s alright. For I was unfaithful, what have I done? To drag your good good name into another’s arms Say that it’s alright... would you say something?

You say you’re wanting more original thinking
You're out on the dance floor, making a killing
It’s easy to see, you’re not into me But you find yourself still fascinating

Go and live up the good life Go through on your heels and walk up a high wire
Maybe tonight is a place you can hide But we know there comes a fateful morning

I shouldn’t love you, save for the sorrow When I look upon your soul
We stay together, you say “forever” But there’s always somewhere else you’d rather go
So take your belongings, I hope they’re enticing Are they everything you need?
You will come running after discovering That love is what you only get from me

You been running your mouth, talking like a good girl
But you’re always found out, baby, sooner or later
It’s an endless charade, the game that we play
Well baby, don’t look now the stakes are getting high

 And you need an answer
Found your seat on the Great Lost Self Romance Disaster
Time: is your well running dry?
If you stay you’ll starve like every other.
Are you ashamed of running away, Where are the boyfriends that you’ve had?
They gave you a smile, took you for a ride, Never to be seen again

I shouldn’t love you, with all the tricks you do
 But how can I refuse?
You’ve got the bright-eyed wanderlust lifestyle
And I have all the things that you could use
So take your belongings, I hope they’re enticing
They’ll be nothing that you need
 You’ll come running, after discovering
Love is what you only get from me

Idling 03:44
I’m in the pocket, I’m lit like a rocket And I’m looking for the place we should go And they used to provide it now you have to buy it So we’re thinking: “Any port in a storm” And no one ever thought I would give it up for free We will get to the deepest need tonight I wanna be inside it when the crowd goes wild Idling: Let the world spin round On me: And everything go down Baby: rest assured that I don’t belong here So push it again, step right up to the ledge and never wonder worry how you get down Such a lucrative scheme, such a fleeting release With all the bodies that have littered the ground And sure we could say “No” to the pleasurable machine But why would we bite the hand that feeds? Oh no We’re mounting up the horse and its around we go Idling: Let the world spin round On me: And everything go down Baby: rest assured that I don’t belong here Idling: like a love gone south On me: when there is no way out Baby: and everything that I know if wrong here And it seems like a waste of time For heart, head, and soul, and mind For we are the young who have walked in circles And every now and then I feel I sometimes get it right But it descends to the animal inside Watching as my body’s taken for a ride

Deep End 04:10
Are you waiting for a voice that can't be mistaken Telling you that you should be leaving The lonely life that you have known?
Are you hoping for love that can only be worked in The busy life of independence The thing you’ve been hanging on?

Well it takes time to work through All those lies that hurt you And I know, your virtue is strong

But what if you were caught in the deep end? Would anybody offer to jump in?
Would anybody know how to find their way Into the life that you had made if you were sinking? I know I would want to come running
But would you ever give me the chance to show you Better things that lie beyond the simple things you hold
 It’s time you let go
You were never meant to be lonely

Are you searching to sit back with the observing Love like a window you look in, and casually slip on by? Don't you know, no one's gonna ever fall for that? And worse it will only lead you back To the things you've already tried

So come on bring your baggage I wanna see the heartache, Wanna know what you've been trying to hide.

Shame! That you have been living inside these 4 walls. Giving them the best part of your time Come out in the weather, I tell you its better
And this wind and rain they make for passionate nights
And your thirsty soul need not be parched forever

So what if you were caught, worn, wearied and lost?
Tell me babe if the pain of this world Took the beauty from your heart and you were sinking Girl, you know I'd want to come running But would you let go, open up your hands Look and see the things I have to give?
 It’s time that you live.
You were never meant to be lonely

I love you so, and I would give so much To have and hold you completely But we both know that is not to be For far too long you let so many loves Just walk right in and come they did to steal The beauty that you revealed And so they got under your surface There was no stone left unturned And now we're fighting on the ground That many other loves have burned You couldn't save yourself for someone There was no one else around And so these tattered remains are what's left Of you to be found How long my love will you compare me to The ghosts of old who came to rob you blind Will you keep your hands from mine? Didn't you know, Didn't you know? Through the pain of the fight Your face I would find And I would buy at any cost But it appears we've lost You couldn't save yourself And tattered remains are all that I see For I am not part of your past I am not what you have known I am so much more, so much more But if you will not come see it If you will not believe it There will be tattered remains.

Who can say, why do such things happen as they do? There must be some kind of scientific proof That I can hold onto When I am falling through See when I was young it seemed all easy in control But as I age, it’s far beyond my hand Will not follow my commands I’m a house upon the sand And my soul yearns to understand Everybody is a life in motion The plans are hid beneath the surface of your life You may not understand This may not be your plan But no one ever escapes the forces of the world So are you caught, your heart still looking to the past Or is your mind racing off ahead? Like a mouth that must be fed Just a little bit more of bread While your life, craving to be lived... Everybody is a life in motion The plans are hid beneath the surface of your life You may not understand This may not be your plan But no one ever escapes the forces of the world But everybody must contend with these forces Connecting all of us to everything in sight And you may have a choice You may have a voice But no one ever escapes the forces of the world Momentum is pulling me, momentum I cannot see Its overhead, underneath and I try to swim upstream Everybody is a life in motion The plans are hid beneath the circus of your life You may not understand This never was my plan But everybody must contend with these forces Connecting all of us to everyone in sight And you may have a choice You may have a voice But no one ever escapes No, no one ever escapes the forces of the world.

Bumpy Ride 06:27
How many times will I have to go around Before I realize that it’s a circle Every mess I make and every foolish step I take Brings me back until I’m undone So much sadness in this madness Without an anchor we wash away Can we leave this place? Can we leave this place tonight? Can we hold our hearts and dream out loud Against the night sky? Baby hold on tight, it’s gonna be a bumpy ride But I have faith that the light is coming up this time How many days will you look into my face And never see through the mask I’ve made With every man I meet There is a fraud that we must keep Just to live out these days in peace And I can’t take it, and I won’t make it If this is the cold bed where we must sleep It will be the death of me. Gold, gold, gold on our horizon, We will find the perfect light Come and leave with me, leave everything behind Let go your rags, dream out loud against the night sky Baby hold on tight, its gonna be a bumpy ride But I have faith that the light is coming up, coming up.

about

We’ve heard the prognostication that the conceptual album is dying. In fact most would say the album itself is dying, if not already dead. We hope you’re not ready for that yet. We wrote this album to be a kaleidoscopic view of ‘escape’: the songs unpack this theme in a variety of ways--some more oblique than others--to show the positive and negative, the good and bad. After writing it for the past 18 months, we recorded it amidst the beautiful Oregon spring and summer. Cheers.
